This just in: the Spring 2019 Collection can be a part of your winter wardrobe! Yes, you read that correctly, we said winter. You don’t just have to stare longingly at spring fashion ads, pining for the next warm day as the snow collects gently on your windowsill. If you style wisely, you can incorporate pieces from both Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 into your cold weather ensembles…right now!
We’ve put those throwaway fashion days well behind us and moved on to investing in pieces that will last. As you continue to build your wardrobe, we want to encourage you to make smart decisions that will allow you to make the most of your favorite items. We’re gearing up to launch the Spring 2019 Collection, and are sharing how we’re styling these pieces with the clothes already in our closet. For example, a floral spring blouse can always be layered under a solid-colored fall sweater, or try a pair of snow-white jeans with a chunky sweater for a devil-may-care twist on a summer palette.
For advice on transitional style, we’ve partnered with Jennifer Rand, the fierce blogger behind Belle de Couture. As a self-proclaimed “fashion chameleon,” Jennifer never says no to a new style. She firmly believes that fashion should be fun and not taken too seriously. We couldn’t agree more! She suggests treating each outfit as an experiment and using your style as a chance to express yourself. Her blog is devoted to mixing vintage gems with everyday designer finds, so we trust her inventive eye. Check out these three outfits below for inspiration, and don’t miss out on Jennifer’s tips and tricks for each.
Dresses are surprisingly one of the easiest pieces to transition through the seasons. You can get a lot more wear out of your spring and summer dresses by simply adding a cardigan or jacket and a closed-toe shoe. The Dream Dress from the Spring 2019 Collection is so pretty, I just couldn’t wait to style it, but I wanted to pair it with some cozy outerwear to keep myself warm in the cold February temps. The Embrace Cardigan from the Fall 2018 Collection was the perfect solution. I love the juxtaposition of the feminine dress with the oversized cardigan. The combo gives off a tomboy chic vibe that’s so stylish, especially when paired with a cute sneaker!

Nothing says spring quite like a fun bold print and bright colors, and the Bronco Blouse from the Spring 2019 Collection could not be more fitting. Of all the pieces in the Collection, this blouse stood out the most for me, and I just knew I had to style it. I’m such a pushover for colorful pieces and a great print, but what made this blouse even better for me was the western style. If you’ve never been a fan of western wear or you’ve been shy to try the new trend, this blouse would be a great way to get your feet wet, as it’s subtle and doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a cowgirl costume. It has piping, like a typical western-style shirt, but the mixed prints and ruffled collar make it unique and oh-so-feminine.

If there’s one piece of clothing that I reach for the most from my closet it’s a blazer. I think every woman should own at least one, if not several. Blazers can instantly pull a look together and elevate even the simplest of outfits. I instantly fell in love with the Sleuth Blazer from the Spring 2019 Collection. The plaid print is so classic, and the soft hues are ideal for spring. I can see myself wearing this blazer year-round—it’s just so good, and the fit on this blazer is everything! I love that I can still get the menswear, “borrowed from the boys” look without sacrificing a flattering fit.

Add outerwear to just about any look, and it’s instantly appropriate for colder temperatures, whether it’s pairing a structured blazer over a pretty blouse (as I did in look #3), or adding a chunky cardigan over a spring dress (as I did in look #1). There are no rules when it comes to what colors you can wear in each season, so don’t shy away from wearing those bright spring colors even in the colder months.

Layering is another great way to get more wear out of your fave spring pieces. One of my favorite ways to layer is to pair a long-sleeved fitted tee or button-down shirt underneath a cami, bralette, or slip dress. I also love pairing cropped sweaters over pretty spring blouses. Whichever layering look you go for, the end result is instant cool-girl status.
