To all the women who want to be seen and heard: the Fall 2020 Collection is a celebration of you. A celebration of your bright ideas, your bold style, your willingness to live larger, louder, and quite unlike anyone but yourself. Inspiration may not be an easy thing to find these days, yet we find ourselves reflecting on the journey that led us to the Fall 2020 Collection—find ourselves inspired anew by ideas that originated in a very different moment, yet carry evermore bearing on our experiences today, tomorrow, and especially for the season to come.
The design journey began a year ago, and at that time, we were moved by experiences beyond the runway—experiences that stirred our sense of sight, touch, and taste—and wanted to create a Collection that captured them. Flash forward to more recently, when the Design Team started sharing the new Collection and we got the chance to see long ago inspiration come to life. Having missed these experiences for the past few months, those very senses temporarily homebound, we were struck by how excited we are to celebrate their return as soon as it’s safe to do so.
The Fall 2020 Collection features colors straight from the spice rack; paprika and turmeric add bold flavor while colors from nature, like mulberry and jade, ground us. Warm and cozy sweaters and jackets layer over gorgeous florals, dots, plaids, and status-print blouses. Working from home, we found ourselves thinking, “Yeah, those pieces would be nice to have on right now.” And as we found ourselves looking ahead, we thought, “That iconic black-and-white-herringbone suit is just what I need for my triumphant return.”
As always, we focused on the details: ruffles, pleats, seams, peplums, fringe (and more!), and styled with mostly boots, booties, and belts for a bold look with a smattering of fierce statement loafers and classic pumps for an eye-catching twist. Of course, we can’t talk about inspiration without a little reminder of how the final product came together, so here’s a cut we whipped up with footage from our most recent photoshoot that we feel shows off the vision and enthusiasm that guided us on this journey.
